Instagram has become a major social media platform where people share their lives through photos and videos. If you want to get noticed, you need to create compelling and interesting content.
Instagram is a photo and video-sharing application that is owned by Facebook. The photo-sharing app has over 500 million daily active users and over 1 billion monthly active users. So, it can be hard for your account to stand out from the crowd.
One of the ways that you can make your account more fun, interesting and engaging is by creating Reels with the Instagram app. All you need is your smartphone or tablet, a tripod, and some good lighting.
Instagram reels are fun, short clips and videos that are intended to be entertaining, educational, or inspirational. Whether you want to create Reels for your business, to show off products, or just for your own personal use, you’ll need know-how. So, follow along for our step-by-step guide.
Creating Your Reel - Step By Step
The first step is to think about your concept. What is your reel going to be about, and why are you making it? You'll need to think about what you want to show before you even begin shooting. Then, take photos and videos of those ideas. After you've shot everything, you'll be ready to preview and edit your footage. Finally, add effects and music to complete your reel.
You should start by thinking about what kind of content you want to create for your brand. Then, you should think about what type of content works well with your audience. Finally, you should consider the types of posts that work well together.
Thinking about what you are going to produce for a reel will help you in making your reel so much easier and your followers will love it more and are more likely to engage with your account if they can relate to your content. If it is just purely for your own personal account, then feel free to use it as a chance to express yourself, your interests, and fun aspects of your life.
Using The Instagram Stories Camera
To make an Instagram reel using the Instagram stories camera menu, follow these instructions:
Open the Instagram stories app and head to the camera button. Then, you should find the reels icon located either between normal mode and create mode or on the bottom left corner next to the story. If you don’t see the Reels option, then it could be time to update your Instagram application.
You can then start making your own reels directly from the Instagram camera button after you have trimmed, edited, and filtered your content to your standards. However, you do not have to use the Instagram camera button, you can also upload external clips from your camera roll to use in your reel.
To do this, simply select the plus icon in the bottom left-hand corner. However, if you prefer to record video internally in the app, tap the camera button in the top right corner of the screen and start recording your content!
You can also tap the microphone icon to start recording. In addition, you may want to use the audio icon to choose a song or file from the Instagram music library or upload an audio file of your own. Tap the video icon to start recording. Then, when your reel is played, it will run with accompanying music that can make it funny, lighthearted, sad, or change the mood entirely.
Other tools that you have at your disposal are to change the speed of the reel. You can do this with the left sidebar, where you'll be able to select the speed of your video from.3x, 5x, 1x,2x, 3x, and 4x. For hands-free filming, take advantage of Instagram's handy timer tool which will countdown before it starts to record. The timer allows you to record any of your clips hands-free.
Once you press record you'll see a 3 - 2 - 1 countdown before the reel starts to record. You'll also have an option to align your clips. This tool comes in handy when creating seamless transitions between moments and clips of your footage. To access effects, tap the 3 stars icon above the record buttons. There you can browse Insta's effects gallery.
To view, trim, or delete clips, touch the back arrow to exit editing mode, then tap a clip to begin editing it as much as you like.
Once you’ve added your clips and edited them, tap on the preview to "Preview" what it would look like to your followers. You can use Instagram's many effects to make your video stand out. If you know how to use Instagram Stories tools, you should be able to recognize most of them.
As you can guess, Instagram is all about the effects and editing. With Instagram’s reels function, you can add text to your reel, draw onto your video, or use stickers and GIFs for comedic effect. There are also many filters and AR effects to try out to make your video stand out from the rest.
To add these effects, simply head to the ‘Effect’ function and click ‘Add Text’ or ‘GIFs and Stickers’ in order to place them onto your reel.
Share Your Reel
Now it's time to share! Choose a ‘Cover Photo’ from your own images or from clips of the reel, and write a captivating and exciting ‘Caption’ that speaks to your followers and aligns with the theme of your newly made Reel.
Crop your Cover Image, to ensure it looks right, as this is how your cover image will display on the grid. To tag other Instagram Accounts or users in your Reel, click on Tag People and add them by username. You could also share the video on Facebook or other linked social media accounts to gain better reach!
Once you’ve added all the final details such as a cover photo, caption, location, and any hashtags you want to include, share the reel by clicking on the Share button. Job done!
Don’t Forget About Trends
Following trends is important, but it should be done carefully. What makes your reel great? Try to follow trends and include popular memes, music, and themes in your reels. The Reel function is great because it incorporates several different features so that you can make a range of different videos and enjoy watching other users’ reels!
